Crossin it up!

So we've had 2 cross races so far and I'm off to a good start. Both races were on the same coarse just reversed for the 2nd.
Both races were extremely fast and surprisingly I found myself in the front group building a nice gap on the rest of the field. The 1st race myself and a pro mountain biker built a nice gap on 3rd place but on the last lap he proved to have better handling skills has he flew through the corners for the win.
the 2nd race we did the same but had 2 others with us. One of the guys made us work our a**es off to catch him but when we did I think he was happy to have the help. During the race I came un-clipped 4-5 times with one of them being in the final sprint. Who knows if I could have got around the 2 in front of me if I hadn't un-clipped but I ended up 3rd.
As you can see in the pic's I am all about the socks. One of the local pro's got me in to this so every week I try to find a sick pair of socks just for the race. Amee and the kids love it because I'm MUCH easier to spot.
Well, that's all I've got for now...

Cross Season...

Well, it's that time of year again and I feel ready to go. I didn't race as much road this year in hopes to do some damage in cross... We'll see how this works out for me. I have decided to run my Reynolds DV 46 Tubulars for cross this year to see how they compare to clinchers. The bike is ready to go (other than removing the bottle cage) as you can see in the pic. As long as I'm ready it should be a good season. It'll be fun as hell either way.
Family update, Amee is doing good and enjoying only working 4 days a week. Haley is in 1st grade now and has about 4 boys (including a set of twins) chasing her... Lord help me!!! Jayce is freaking hilarious and learns something new everyday. He has perfected how to say "bike" so I am a very proud father.
Well, that's it for now... I'll post after the 1st cross race Oct 3rd.

umm.... it's already March?!

For those of you that actually care I want to tell you up front that I will try to post more regularly.
I wanted to let you all know that things are mostly good out here in UT and the family is doing great. Haley has made some very good friends and Jayce is 10 months today. He is standing up on his own and I days away from walking. Doesn't look like he'll beat his big sister since she walked the day after she turned 10 months.
That's all I've got for now but I have some cool pics to post in the next week so be on the lookout.

Starting over... Kind of.

Well I have been in SLC for 2 weeks now. It has been a huge change for me with work because the last 9 years I have had a desk job and now I am working a physically demanding job. Training has been picking up a little more now that I am somewhat settled and I have gotten in a crit and a TT.
The crit was funny because there were about 35-40 guys and 20 of them were on the same team. I was obviously the only Feedback rider so I did what I could and chased every break I could. It was fun but I had no expectations since I didn't feel good all day and I knew every time I went after a break there would be 1-2 guys jump on my wheel from the 20 man team. I ended up 11th but have better expectations for the future once I get used to the work changes.
The TT was a 10k and was HOT. It was 98 when I went off and was extremely dry so the mouth instantly dried out. I arrived late so I only got about a 10 minute warm up so the legs were still pretty tight when I went off. I ended up 6th in the TT and again I have better expectations in the upcoming weeks once I get use to the physical work.

Talk to you all soon.

Homeward Bound

Well this will be my 1st post ever and it is going to be a somewhat serious one. For those of you that know me I am originally from Utah but have lived in Colorado for almost 11 years. I believe in fate, destiny and kharma so I think I must have done something right to get the opportunity to meet all of the people I have here in Colorado. I have made some amazing friendships here and it is extremely difficult to leave them but I have to think of family 1st. We have decided to move back to Utah for a couple of reasons but mainly to be closer to family.
In the past three months we have sold our house, had a baby (Jayce Thomas was born May 9th) and now we are moving out of state. I don't think I could add anymore stress to our lives right now so the only thing I can hope for is that this is the right decision. If not I will be back here bugging all of you again but I'm pretty sure this is what we need to do.
I'll be back to visit probably once or twice a year so you're not rid of me entirely but you won't have to see me on a weekly basis or monthly for that matter.
